The teenage years are transitional. We sit back and watch the volatility as our teens come to terms with growing up. Hormones and emotions run high. From a teen perspective, your child is trying to make sense out of all he has learned. He seems to be searching for himself and perhaps trying on many different ‘selves’ at the same time. The one gift you can give your teen is to help him or her understand that life is not about finding himself. Rather, life is all about creating himself.

Note and pay close attention to the answers your teen gives you and their body language, you will learn a great deal. Are they confident in there answers? If you’re getting a bunch of “I don’t knows”, you need to get your teen in front of the recruiter with those same questions. When you are there with your teen in front of the recruiter, don’t embarrass them and don’t dominate the conversation.
Start listening practice with listening flashcards. You can make these flashcards with various software programs available now, such as Mnemosyne, or Supermemo. This lets you use MP3 recordings for one ‘side’ of the flashcard. After you hear the word, you may choose to say the equivalent in your language, or to say the definition in English. Its your choice.
You’ve heard this a thousand times before, read each question carefully before answering. Are they asking for “everything except” or “the most” or “the least”. Make sure you understand what it is they want to know before you answer the question. Repeat it back to yourself if you need to.

So, what are you curious about? What do you want to know? Write a list; be imaginative and allow your mind the freedom to dream up whatever questions it likes. The aim here is to allow yourself to believe you can learn about anything you want.
A week before your exam, prepare mentally and physically. Sleep and eat well. Study shows that enough rest and proper food intake can stimulate the brain and other bodily senses.
